In 2024, my father, Naval Kishore Singh, was diagnosed with a blockage in his aorta and had to undergo heart surgery. We thought that was the toughest phase and that things would slowly get better from there. But recently, the same issue came back, and this time it was much more serious. The doctors told us he needed another major surgery, and everything moved very quickly after that. He is currently admitted to Narayana Hospital.
They had to replace his entire aortic arch with an artificial graft. As his son, it’s hard to take in how suddenly life shifted from normal days to standing outside an ICU, waiting for updates.
It’s been more than 10 days since the surgery, and he is still in the ICU on ventilator support. We’re just holding on and taking each day as it comes. The house feels quiet without him, he’s always been the one who kept everything steady for us.

Right now, all we want is for him to recover and come back home. He doesn’t ask for much, just to see his daughter get married and for all of us to sit together as a family again.

২০২৪ সালে আমার বাবা, নবল কিশোর সিং-এর মহাধমনীতে (aorta) প্রতিবন্ধকতা ধরা পড়ে এবং তাঁর হার্ট সার্জারি করাতে হয়। আমরা ভেবেছিলাম ওটাই সবচেয়ে কঠিন পর্যায় ছিল এবং এরপর থেকে পরিস্থিতি ধীরে ধীরে ভালো হয়ে যাবে। কিন্তু সম্প্রতি, সেই একই সমস্যা আবার ফিরে এসেছে, এবং এবার তা ছিল আরও অনেক বেশি গুরুতর। ডাক্তাররা আমাদের জানালেন যে তাঁর আরও একটি বড় সার্জারি প্রয়োজন, এবং এরপর সবকিছু খুব দ্রুত ঘটতে শুরু করে।
তাঁর পুরো মহাধমনীর খিলানটি (aortic arch) একটি কৃত্রিম গ্রাফ্ট দিয়ে প্রতিস্থাপন করতে হয়েছিল। তাঁর ছেলে হিসেবে, এটা মেনে নেওয়া খুব কঠিন যে জীবনটা কত হঠাৎ করে সাধারণ দিনগুলো থেকে বদলে গিয়ে এখন আইসিইউ-এর বাইরে দাঁড়িয়ে খবরের জন্য অপেক্ষা করার মতো অবস্থায় এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে।
সার্জারির পর দশ দিনেরও বেশি হয়ে গেছে, এবং তিনি এখনও আইসিইউ-তে ভেন্টিলেটর সাপোর্টে আছেন। আমরা শুধু আঁকড়ে ধরে আছি এবং প্রতিটি দিন যেমন আসছে, সেভাবেই পার করছি। তাঁকে ছাড়া বাড়িটা নিস্তব্ধ লাগে, তিনিই তো সবসময় আমাদের জন্য সবকিছু স্থির রাখতেন।
