My younger brother, Mandeep, is the only son of our family. On 14th April 2026, a road accident changed everything. What should have been an ordinary day turned into a nightmare that none of us could have imagined. He suffered a collapsed lung, fractures in his left hand and right leg, severe damage to both tibia bones, and a critical abdominal injury. We believed surviving the accident was the biggest battle, but it was only the beginning. The infection kept spreading despite every effort, leading to abdominal sepsis, blood infection, liver and kidney damage, pneumonia, fluid in his lungs, swelling in his brain, and even two cardiac arrests. He has undergone multiple stomach surgeries, a fistula creation, and now breathes through a tracheostomy. Every day has become a fight to keep him alive.

Today, Mandeep needs prolonged hospitalisation, fistula management, gastroenterology and orthopaedic care, physiotherapy, constant nursing support, infection control, and nutritional care before he can even think about standing on his feet again.

Watching my younger brother lie helpless in a hospital bed is something I never imagined our family would go through. He is still so young, with his entire life ahead of him, and as the only son of our family, we cannot bear to lose him. We are holding onto hope that one day he will recover, walk again, return home, and live the life that was taken away from him in a single moment. मेरा छोटा भाई, मनदीप, हमारे परिवार का इकलौता बेटा है। 14 अप्रैल 2026 को एक सड़क दुर्घटना ने सब कुछ बदल दिया। जो दिन एक आम दिन हो सकता था, वह एक बुरे सपने में बदल गया, जिसकी हममें से किसी ने कल्पना भी नहीं की थी। उसका फेफड़ा पिचक गया, बाएं हाथ और दाहिने पैर में फ्रैक्चर हो गए, दोनों टिबिया हड्डियों को गंभीर नुकसान पहुंचा और पेट में गंभीर चोट आई। हमें लगा कि दुर्घटना से बचना ही सबसे बड़ी लड़ाई थी, लेकिन यह तो बस शुरुआत थी। हर कोशिश के बावजूद इन्फेक्शन फैलता गया, जिससे पेट में सेप्सिस, खून में इन्फेक्शन, लिवर और किडनी को नुकसान, निमोनिया, फेफड़ों में पानी भरना, दिमाग में सूजन और यहां तक ​​कि दो बार कार्डियक अरेस्ट भी हुआ। उसके पेट की कई सर्जरी हुई हैं, फिस्टुला बनाया गया है और अब वह ट्रेकियोस्टोमी के ज़रिए सांस ले रहा है। हर दिन उसे ज़िंदा रखने की एक लड़ाई बन गई है।

आज, मनदीप को लंबे समय तक अस्पताल में रहने, फिस्टुला मैनेजमेंट, गैस्ट्रोएंटेरोलॉजी और ऑर्थोपेडिक देखभाल, फिजियोथेरेपी, लगातार नर्सिंग सपोर्ट, इन्फेक्शन कंट्रोल और न्यूट्रिशनल देखभाल की ज़रूरत है, ताकि वह दोबारा अपने पैरों पर खड़े होने के बारे में सोच सके।
