Just a few months ago, our biggest concern was his studies, his school, and his playful moments with his younger brother. Our son, Agasthya is in 8th grade, a bright and loving child who dreams of growing up into a responsible person and helping others.
But in December, our lives have completely changed…
It all began with frequent headaches and vomiting. We visited doctors, gave him medications, and each time the symptoms would settle, only to return again after a few days. When the symptoms didn’t stop, we admitted him to a hospital and ran multiple tests. We decided to do an MRI just to be sure and then we found out that our son had a tumor in his brain. Our world collapsed in that moment.
Soon after the tumour was removed, the biopsy confirmed our worst fear, Medulloblastoma, a Grade 4 high-risk brain cancer.
As parents, hearing this about your child is something no one can ever prepare for.
Since then, our life has been a constant cycle of hospital visits, fear, and prayers. The doctors have advised an intensive treatment plan, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, followed by high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue and transplant. This entire process will take around 8–10 months and must begin immediately.
Agasthya wishes to go back to school, play with his brother, and live a normal life again.
As a father, I left my job to stay by his side through every hospital visit. As a mother, I continue to work, trying to hold our family together. We are doing everything we can but it is not enough. We have already spent nearly ₹10 lakhs, using all our savings, taking loans, and even pledging gold. Our insurance covered very little, and now we have nothing left.
We are standing at a point where we cannot continue this fight alone. We want a chance to save our son’s life but his treatment costs us a huge sum.
